Benefits for U.S. Employees

Elan offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package that is highly competitive with those offered by other biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies.

Elan offers market-competitive salaries to all employees. In addition, employees are eligible for a cash incentive bonus based on individual and company objectives.

All full-time employees (30+ hours per week) and their dependents are eligible for benefits the first day of employment.  Eligible dependents include legal spouses, domestic partners, dependent children, adopted children and stepchildren. Benefits may vary based on location.

Medical Benefits: Based on work locations, employees may enroll in one of six available plans: a point-of-service (POS) plan, two preferred provider organizations plans (base and premium options), an exclusive provide organization (EPO), a health maintenance organization plan (HMO), and a Consumer-Driven Health Care Plan (CDHP).

Dental Benefits: Employees may visit the dentist of their choice. There are two options, a base plan and a premium plan, which includes orthodontia coverage.

Vision Benefits: The vision care plan offers in- and out-of-network coverage

Flexible Spending Account: Employees may contribute up to $5,000 per year, pretax, in health care and dependent care accounts.

Life and Disability Insurance Coverage: Elan pays the full cost of Basic Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) insurance benefits, equal to the employee’s annual base pay. Additional life insurance for spouses, domestic partners and children is available. Elan pays the full cost of coverage that provides income disability benefits to employees who are unable to work because of an injury or illness.

401(k) Plan: Employees may enroll in the plan at any time during the year and employee contributions are always 100% vested. Elan provides a quarterly non-discretionary contribution of 3% of eligible pay to all employees.  Elan may also provide an annual discretionary match to participating employees.

Employee Equity Purchase Plan: The plan allows eligible employees to purchase shares of Elan common stock each quarter at a 15% discount.

Paid Time-Off:  Based on years of service, employees receive between 15 and 30 paid vacation days each year, which start accruing the first day of employment. Employees receive three floating holidays to use at their discretion, as well as paid sick days.

Educational Assistance Plan: Employees may receive up to $5,000 a year towards a bachelor or graduate degree related to their career.

Employee Assistance Plan (EAP):  Employees and their families may receive confidential counseling and referrals, and have access to a 24-hour hotline.
