Distance from Dublin Airport to Athlone is 81 Miles (133km and should take you by car approx 1hr 34mins). You will go through two tolls, total cost of €4.50 to complete your journey.

Leave Dublin Airport on the M1 South for Dublin City. Take First Exit on Left onto the M50 for The West. After passing through West-link Toll Bridge (€1.80), take first exit on left for The West (N4). Continue forward onto the Motorway M4, passing through a toll (€2.50). Follow signs for Galway to join N6, passing the following towns:

• KILBEGGAN
• HORSELEAP
• MOATE 

Athlone is the next town after Moate. You will arrive at a roundabout outside Athlone and here you take the third exit which is sign-posted to Galway/The West. Continue on this motorway, take the fifth exit which is sign-posted to the Tuam Road and Monksland Industrial Estate. At the T junction turn right. The entrance to Elan is the third exit on the left.

Distance from Shannon Airport to Athlone is 79 Miles (131km and should take you by car approx 1hr 30mins)

On leaving Shannon Airport, at the first roundabout, take the 1st exit onto the Airport Road – N19. At the roundabout take the 2nd exit onto the N19 (signposted all routes). At Shannon Town Roundabout take the 2nd exit onto the N19 (signposted Galway, Limerick). At the roundabout take the 1st exit, then merge onto the N18 (sign posted Galway, Ennis). At Dromoland Interchange branch left, then at roundabout take the 3rd exit, then turn left on the N18 (signposted Ennis, Galway). Continue forward onto the N18, entering Ennis, passing through villages of Barefield & Crusheen. When you enter the next town, Gort, turn right taking the N66 route to Loughrea town. In Loughrea, take the N6 route to Ballinasloe town. Continue through Ballinasloe, heading east for Athlone (N6 route), a distance of approximately 15 miles. On the outskirts of Athlone you will approach a dual-carriageway (highway). To reach the Elan site, take the first exit on the left for Tuam and the Industrial Estate. Turn left at the T-junction and the Elan site is to your left.
