Elan’s commitment to patients is deep and absolute. Our researchers and scientists have devoted decades to discovering and developing unique science and innovative therapies for some of the most devastating and dehumanizing diseases of our time.

The foundation of our science and research has always been to help the millions of patients suffering from neurodegenerative or autoimmune diseases, and to provide hope for these patients, their families and caregivers.

Often our employees – from research scientists to development and commercial teams, and all the groups that support those efforts – have a personal stake in our science. Sometimes, it’s the memory of someone who suffered from a disease before a therapy arrived that drives them. Others see it every day in their own lives, as loved ones battle Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis and Crohn’s disease. Still others see their work as a daily challenge to conquer an intractable disease or improve existing treatments.

The desire to help patients, caregivers and families begins with an openness to explore new ideas and a willingness to challenge ideas with intense scientific rigor as it moves through our pipeline. We work closely with a broad range of groups – industry collaborators, research experts in our therapeutic focus areas, key scientific opinion leaders and associations, government regulators and patient advocacy organizations – to ensure that our therapies reach those who need them most.
