Defining the Future of Neurological Therapies

Elan’s research and development efforts are centered on bringing science and innovation to patients in therapeutic focus areas marked by substantial, unmet patient needs, particularly in the understanding and treatment of neurodegenerative and autoimmune diseases. Through our rigorous and original research, we aim to develop breakthrough medicines that alter the course of disease and improve people’s lives.

In neuroscience, Elan builds upon more than two decades of breakthrough research and extensive experience in the area of neuropathology-driven disorders, such as Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson's disease.

For autoimmune diseases, Elan is studying cell trafficking to discover ways to provide disease-modifying therapies for diseases, such as multiple sclerosis and inflammatory bowel disease.

Our world-class scientists are exploring promising new treatments in multiple clinical and preclinical programs to address significant unmet medical needs for millions of patients around the world.

Elan has a number of potential therapies in the various stages of development. Elan is conducting numerous clinical trials of drug candidates from early to late stage testing for treating Alzheimer’s disease, multiple sclerosis, Crohn’s disease and hematologic malignancies.
